The Downtown Beaverton neighborhood is mixed commercial and residential. There is a tiny historic business district near Beaverton High School. If you walk around SW Broadway in Beaverton, you can guess what the old downtown might have looked like 50 years ago. The City of Beaverton is committed to improving the look and feel of downtown and to creating a more vibrant urban core with Urban Renewal projects.
Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway was the heart of old downtown. The Cedar Hills Mall (just north of old downtown) and the area around old downtown have melted together so it is almost impossible to tell where one starts and the other begins. This area attracts shoppers, movie goers and residents in the area dining out. Downtown Beaverton has a park that has a summertime fountain good for cooling off on a hot summer day.
The Beaverton Transit Center, an important transit point for buses, the MAX train, and the WES train (to Wilsonville), is close to the center of Beaverton.
