The St. Johns neighborhood occupies the far end of North Portland where the Willamette and Columbia Rivers meet. A lot of the Portland real estate in this area was built from the 1940s and on. The small-town atmosphere of St. Johns takes its name from the majestic 80-year-old bridge, which can be seen from some well-situated homes. St. Johns is also home to Portland’s own Moonstruck Chocolatier company. You can pick up a truffles right from the factory story located near the foot of the St. Johns bridge.
North Lombard forms the commercial spine of St. Johns, and one can find dozens of excellent reasonably priced dining options. Proper Eats has become the go-to restaurant for vegetarians. Tulip Pastry Shop on North Lombard has been a favorite bakery since the early 1950s. Downtown St. Johns has many boutique small businesses including antiques, coffee, theaters, home decor, old fashion pharmacy and taverns.
