Northwest Industrial is an almost entirely industrial neighborhood in the Northwest section of Portland. Since 2001 almost all of the neighborhood has been designated the Guild’s Lake Industrial Sanctuary, to preserve the land for long-term industrial use and to resist pressure for residential development.
Further north Northwest Industrial is almost completely heavy industrial, with fuel storage tanks and container ships dominating the landscape, but the southern section of the neighborhood already shows signs of gentrification, with slick new condominiums going up beside the river and restaurants such as MacTarnahan’s Taproom at Portland Brewing, Breken Kitchen and Olympic Provisions sprouting up amid the industry. Grand Central Bakery also has an established cafe in its baking facility.

This pocket of residences enjoy open unobstructed views of the river and Forest Park. Also, as an extension of the Pearl District and Nob Hill it has the same urban appeal but is a bit more secluded and peaceful.
